Live! from the REALTOR® Fly-in in DC
At the kickoff of the REALTORS® Legislative Meetings in Washington, D.C., NAR members packed the room for a live recording of the Advocacy Scoop podcast hosted by Shannon McGahn, NAR executive vice president and chief advocacy officer, and Patrick Newton, NAR vice president of advocacy communications and outreach.
For this Legislative Meetings special, Patrick and Shannon broke down the current state of tax reforms that were included in the House bill and how NAR’s advocacy efforts contributed to the inclusion of policies that support homeownership and housing supply.
Attendees received an exclusive preview of new survey findings on NAR members’ views on tax policy and how their level of understanding compares to that of voters.
Capitol Pulse: Advocacy By Members, For Members
One of the highlights of REALTORS® Legislative Meetings (RLM) is the direct advocacy of NAR members and supporters heading to Capitol Hill and meeting with members of Congress. NAR members held over 500 meetings with House and Senate members, which translates to a meeting with 95% of all members of Congress.
On Wednesday, June 4, thousands of real estate professionals continued the tradition of heading to Capitol Hill for one-on-one meetings to discuss pivotal ways legislators can support housing affordability and supply and protect the real estate industry.
“This week, thousands of REALTORS® met with lawmakers to champion homeownership, protect private property rights, and advocate for the issues that matter most to buyers and homeowners nationwide,” said Shannon McGahn, NAR executive vice president and chief advocacy officer. “It is a pivotal year coming to a head as Congress moves forward on tax reform, and we must make our voices heard to protect our members and the industry. On Capitol Hill, our voices being heard ensures that the American dream remains within reach for all.”
Even before members visited the Capitol, NAR had already connected with every newly elected lawmaker earlier this year, logging 593 in-person and virtual meetings since the start of the 119th Congress.

Ahead of meetings with their Senators and Representatives, NAR members had the opportunity to sit with two former members of Congress—Kevin Brady of Texas and Dan Kildee of Michigan—for a discussion centered on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and its potential impact on the real estate economy.

It was a packed house at the RLM regulatory issues forum, where attendees heard from U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Deputy Secretary Paul Lawrence and a panel discussion on deregulation. Panelists discussed the role of innovation in expanding housing opportunities in the current environment, and how state and local governments can work to address housing challenges in the current federal landscape.

RPAC Update
RPAC is the engine that drives our advocacy efforts. At RLM, we honored the 2024 Hall of Fame inductees for their commitment to advancing our issues on the campaign trail and in federal and state legislatures.
RPAC is also making strong progress to our 2025 goals, with 53% of our overall fundraising goal achieved so far. RPAC participation is also strong, with nearly 400,000 members participating so far and sixteen state associations that have already met their participation goal.
The President’s Circle program saw a strong increase in May, bringing the total raised to $922,500, or 85% of goal. Round four of President’s Circle will launch Wednesday June 11.
Coming Soon: The Pro-Property Platform
We’re launching the Pro-Property Platform — a new way for REALTORS® to support candidates who champion homeownership, private property rights, and the real estate profession.
